Bird Festival in Saint-Genis-Pouilly
We are proud to announce that we are sponsoring the 2025 Fête de l’Oiseau!
The 73rd edition of this traditional celebration, organized by the Chevaliers de l’Oiseau, is back from Friday, May 31st to Monday, June 3rd.
Get ready for a memorable weekend filled with festive events and entertainment for all ages.
The Fête de l’Oiseau is the oldest and most significant traditional festival in Saint-Genis-Pouilly and the entire Pays de Gex. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it features the symbolic challenge of shooting down a wooden bird suspended from a pole.
Expect a lively mix of festivities, food and drink stands, ceremonies, and parades, complete with music and flower-covered floats.
On Saturday evening, all children join in a traditional torchlight procession.
Sunday afternoon is dedicated to the grand flower parade.
On Monday afternoon, the traditional bird shooting takes place, during which the new king is crowned and later celebrated that evening during the closing ball.
